In most applications you may gain maximum useable run time by Using a Motobatt Lithium Primary battery. This is due to the fact that even though lithium batteries have less rated Amp Hour capacity, it is also true that they may achieve a deeper discharge without damaging the battery. Cranking Amps or Capacity? They are two very different parameters. Because a Lithium starting battery needs to reserve power for cranking the PCB will not allow the battery to be drained under 8V. So in some cases the AGM may provide more useable power for longer. That is not to say that is is not a good idea to run and AGM starting battery. In some conditions AGM is more robust, does not rely on any internal electronics and can handle a wider range of Hot and cold temperatures and can be easily push or jump started. Motobatt has a battery of all requirements and there is no right or wrong. Both chemistries will see you with way more capacity than needed. How does it work? HP series CBC Cell Balancing Circuit. Each Cell is monitored and balanced to reach 3.65V per cell, to maintain optimum condition of the battery for maximum output and longer life cycle. Without a CBC it creates a possibility that 1 particular weaker cell not performing correctly, will not reach equal voltage with the cell pack.. This will cause the battery to be unbalanced with the other cells, reducing the overall power of the battery affecting the output, affecting battery life and creating potential failure. How does Motobatt Pro Lithium CBC work? Charging Protection activates once any individual cell rises to 3.9V and after 1 second delay, the protection circuit will protect the battery from OVER CHARGING. Once the battery cell drops to 3.8V or below, the protection circuit will automatically switch off and the battery will function as usual. Over DISCHARGING Protection. Activates If any cell drops to 2V or below and after 7 seconds delay, the DISCHARGING protection will start to protect the battery from being discharged and damaging it. Once the battery cells rises above 2.3V, protection will switch off and battery will work normally. Generally if this battery is below 13v it is technically flat and needs recharging. If the operator uses the battery in a low state of charge it will be over discharged, the board will shut down after 7 seconds. This means the battery should be recharged immediately to get it to a voltage that allows it to function properly. When the battery switches off to protect mode, the OCV will be 0v. And a suitable charger with a Lithium reset function is required, or apply a constant voltage charger or jump battery to the terminal to reset the CBC circuit. It will then accept a charge and optimize the battery. *Note Make sure your charger will activate from 0 volts.* All Motobatt Lithium chargers are programmed to start at 0v when in Lithium charge mode. HP series also has TEMPERATURE Protection if the battery becomes hotter than 85°C or above, it will shut down to protect you and your machine from potential damage. NOTE If you have a machine without a solid state regulator or Mosfet controlled regulator, do not use a lithium battery. Typically pre 1985. Older or degraded charging systems are not suitable to manage voltages required to maintain a lithium battery and they will void any warranty. Simply they are not suitable.
